You may have heard the news. I’m back to being the lowest, most wretched form of life: a podcaster. After five years away, I’ve finally been inspired by to return to analysis by Toby Fox’s wonderful Deltarune. This game is the most exciting piece of ongoing independent media right now, and I can’t wait to connect with people and learn about the unique ways the game has impacted them.

The podcast is called SURVEY_PROGRAM, the original name Deltarune was distributed under — and the program that first connected us to its world and asked us to share ourselves with it in turn.

You can listen at gruppeshrike.net/surveyprogram. There will be more stuff on this website soon, I'm sure...

Because of this theme of mass connection, Episode 1 of this new podcast is a bit unconventional: It’s a collection of submitted audio clips, an oral history of the release of Deltarune Chapter 1. How exciting to start at the beginning!

As we continue to digest Chapters 3 and 4 and await Chapter 5 for next year, I’ve got a lot of great episodes lined up for you, and I’m planning to post one every other week. Those future episodes will be more in line with my previous podcast, in terms of being focused around a single subject and structured as an interview with a single expert guest. Eventually, we’ll branch out into related subjects…there’s no shortage of interesting indie games with themes similar to Deltarune’s!

I’ll be honest. It’s been five years since I’ve put out any real public-facing stuff. I was beginning to doubt if I’d ever find the motivation to again. But hearing people’s stories of engaging with this game helped me realize I want to go back and interview folks about stories again. Thank you for inspiring me.
